Bold geometry and contrasting textures give PDX to the World – Tokyo its clean, graphic character.

Reclaimed denim and vintage textiles are layered with the distinctive geometry of the PDX carpet. Hand-stitched Maru Bishamon (丸毘沙門) sashiko brings a traditional Japanese motif into the composition, its interlocking forms reminiscent of armor and associated with strength and protection.

Deep indigo, precise stitching, and strong geometric forms give Tokyo its distinctly Japanese character while keeping the PDX carpet at the heart of the design.

For so many of us, the world begins at PDX and its iconic, deservedly famous airport carpet.
Inspired by the nighttime view of the airport’s intersecting runways from the control tower, the original carpet design debuted in 1988. and quickly became Portland’s own version of the “red carpet,” welcoming visitors and greeting travelers returning home.
At Blue Flag Denim, we’ve incorporated a tribute to this unique piece of Oregon heritage into our PDX to the World Series, featuring destinations from across the globe.
