Description

Flooded Field is a one-of-a-kind pale blue shirt from the Kyoto Agriculture Series, reworked with layers of indigo, blue, and green textile patches.

Different fabrics move across the front like small fields divided by water – faded denim, deep indigo, stripes, checks, and visible hand stitching against the washed blue of the original shirt.

A small hand-stitched Rice Stitch Variation (Komezashi) motif on the collar adds a quiet detail to the piece. Based on the traditional Japanese rice-stitch pattern, it creates a subtle connection to fields, harvest, and the agricultural theme behind the series.

One of a kind.
Reworked by hand in Portland, Oregon.

Kyoto Agriculture

Kyoto Agriculture

Kyoto Agriculture brings Japanese mending traditions down to earth.

Patches, scraps, darning, and simple hand stitches are used freely and without perfection – closer to the way clothes have always been repaired at home than to carefully planned decoration. Different fabrics meet, stitches remain visible, and every repair is allowed to look like a repair.

Inspired by the practical spirit behind boro and sashiko, the series celebrates resourcefulness, imperfection, and the simple idea of keeping a good piece of clothing in use.

Nothing precious. Nothing wasted ✦ Patch it. Stitch it. Keep it going.
